NorthernStar Mothers Milk Bank - Pasteurizing Technician
In this placement, the student will start by gaining a thorough understanding of NorthernStar’s food safety plan and completing food safety training as part of employee onboarding. They will use the Timeless Medical System (TMS) software to receive, measure, and document milk donations, ensuring traceability from intake through to distribution. Additionally, they will maintain digital food safety records, ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly compliance with regulatory standards.
The student will be trained to use the FTIR human milk analyzer for macronutrient testing and perform basic microbiological testing as part of the milk screening process. In the pasteurizing lab, they will process raw donor milk, adhering to precise lab techniques while monitoring critical checkpoints to ensure safety and consistency. They will also be involved in packaging and preparing frozen milk for shipment to NICUs across Alberta and Canada.
As an additional responsibility, the student will participate in the in-house environmental monitoring program, which verifies food safety and sanitation protocols. Opportunities may arise for them to contribute to internal research that supports operational procedures. Maintaining a clean, compliant lab environment and collaborating with the team to support NorthernStar's mission are key aspects of this role.
Wage range: $20-21 hourly

Mother May I - Production & Sales Role
Mother May I is growing! As part of our growing team, we are looking for a part time position in our food production space. The successful candidate will work hands on in our kitchen to help mass manufacture humus products. As the role is diverse, the job will also entail face to face interactions with our partner stores, hands on delivery and in store demos. The student will have a part in production, recipe formulation and lab testing. They will also be in the field building relationships, running markets, and ensuring store deliveries show up on time and in full with no issues.
HACCP & Food Safety Coordinator - Honest Dumplings

Our kitchen shifts are normally between 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Different shifts/Overtime may be required.
Duties/responsibilities:
■ Complete HACCP food safety checklists
■ Record information in HACCP software
■ Create formulas in HACCP software
■ Create product labels
■ Nutrition information analysis
■ Work on the manufacturing production lines
■ Make dumpling and pie fillings
■ Packaging
■ General cleaning and sanitizing
Qualification:
■ You need to be certified in food safety. We take that very seriously. If you aren’t certified, we will help you get there but you gotta have the papers to work with us. ■ You need to be a knife expert. Just kidding. But having experience in kitchen procedures is a huge asset because you’ll be doing prep work like cutting, mixing, and cooking.
■ Serious bonus points if you have worked in a food manufacturing facility, led a kitchen team or have HACCP experience.
■ You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs (because sometimes food is heavy) alone or with help.
■ Have basic math, reading and writing skills.
■ Be available to work varying shifts.
